HISTORY
Our media professionals who came together to create Hi8us in 1994 set out to build a new organisation which placed collaborative media production with and for young people at its core.
In March 1995 APT Film & Television Ltd in London (‘APT’) and Maverick TV Ltd in Birmingham together formed the charity Hi8us Projects Ltd (‘HPL’), following a successful co-production made in Belfast. The charity was initially registered in Birmingham, and was established to continue the participatory television productions with young people developed jointly by the two companies.
The first projects HPL carried out were in Coventry, Hull, Manchester and Birmingham, From 2000 onwards, HPL also started to carry out projects located in London.
In 2002 it was agreed that the regional structure of Hi8us should be formalised by creating separate organisations. Hi8us South Ltd was incorporated on 1 August 2003 and works across London and the south of England
