POPLAR FILM SCHOOL
Hands-on film-making courses for young people.
Poplar Film School was originally created in response to a call for out-of-school projects to help achieve young people’s educational attainment in specific areas of Tower Hamlets. The programme ran from 2005 to 2006.
The scheme targeted young people in need of additional support at Key Stages 3 and 4. It was designed to develop literacy and IT skills through the film-making process, enable participants to gain practical film-making skills and to help their creative, social and personal development.
There are two models for delivering programmes such as Poplar Film School:
• A term of after-school sessions including a half-term intensive week
• Intensive week-long courses
Short films produced by Poplar Film School include mini dramas Bully and The Clash.
We can tailor courses such as Poplar Film School to meet your specific needs and objectives.

TEEN LIFE CHECK
Teen Life Check (TLC) was a quiz-style online questionnaire for young people aged 11-14, with a particular focus on 12-13 year olds. It was designed to support young people in taking greater control of and responsibility for their health and wellbeing.
TLC aimed to help raise young people’s awareness of risk and the range of local and national support services available to them.
A 6 minute DVD shows what TLC is, how young people feel about it, and how they will continue to play a key part in its development.

YOUNG PEOPLE’S DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
The Department of Health’s Young People’s Development Programme was a three-year pilot scheme funded by the Department of Health and Department for Children, Schools and Families.
Twenty-seven youth projects across England delivered an intensive programme involving arts, sports, health, volunteering, mentoring, and educational support to very marginalised 13-15 year olds. The programme aimed to tackle risk behaviours, especially in relation to teenage pregnancy, substance misuse and low educational attainment.
The DVD introduces YPDP, how young people and those working with them felt about participating and the benefits it brought.
