DIGITAL MEDIA AND SOCIAL CHANGE

A module for Goldmiths University of London’s Community and Cross Sectoral Arts MA.

The module introduces students to digital community production across a number of digital media in a variety of social/community settings, using participatory and collaborative techniques.

The module’s core elements include:

  • Technical workshops and exercises and directed reading
  • Access to shooting, editing and computer facilities with appropriate software packages

Students undertake a brief digital media project in the community as part of the course.  Assessment is based on the practical digital media project, plus a 1,500 to 2,000-word written analysis of the process.

The majority of course participants are Goldmiths MA students, but depending on numbers, the course can accept other students at a negotiated fee.

The course runs in the Spring Term and usually involves 10 x ½ day sessions supplemented by student-directed project work.
